From Eorzea to Libertas

Before leaving Gotham City, I had received a message from the Husbando letting me know that I would have a mini homecoming present waiting for me when I got there. Much to my surprise, Sam gave me something that I’ve been eagerly awaiting for some time. He knows the way to my heart with video games, and this new release is no exception:

YEAH! I remember seeing early teaser trailers of the game and with it bearing strong resemblances to Monster Hunter I wanted to give it a fair shot. Unfortunately the Collector’s Edition of the game was no longer in stock so sadly no Thyrus for me, BUT? Thyrus doesn’t define my White Mage skills and I. I DEFINE THYRUS— NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WAS FATED FOR THE WHITE MAGE LIFE. Sigh. That’s another post for another day.

I decided to finally start up the game and check it out, and just wrapping up the tutorial quests to become an Explorer? I’m really enjoying it in ways Monster Hunter did not grab me.

I couldn’t NOT make her an HMIC in both jobs and appearance, so here’s my current stats as of Monday evening. The mechanics in this game are a little sticky to figure out at first, but I will say once you complete the tutorials of the game? You really get a better idea of the mechanics and combat system. I feel in many regards the open world of Monster Hunter is very free and liberating. It’s great, but with a lack of direction it’s hard to maneuver and navigate around for me. I think in some respects it was for that reason I lost motivation when playing the game, and didn’t get very far.

Spell wise I’m a BABY BABY WHITE MAGE at the moment so I’m operating with a basic Cure, Esuna, Water, and this special ability known as Beseech. As time goes on, and more quests are completed though CP can be collected to purchase new spells. I also feel very squishy at the moment as per the norm of being a new beginning player and a White Mage at that, but as far as I can tell? It’s not impossible to solo content as one, which is refreshing. I initially had reservations about that, but am somewhat relieved I can at least take down trash easily. I think once White Mage hits max level, I’ll switch gears and give Beastmaster a shot.

Oh! Another thing! In total in FFE, there’s 21 job classes that can be played and mastered. I apologize for the size of the image, but you can check them out here:

Upon starting the game, you immediately gain the Freelancer class (which isn’t half bad) and then upon completing the tutorial quests you can unlock the Paladin, Ranger, White Mage and Black Mage classes. I think once I finish mastering White Mage, I’ll make a beeline over to Beastmaster since I love me some pet classes, proceed with Dark Knight, then Alchemist and then just run through the list if I obtain the job crystals. All in all it’s going to take me a REAL LONG TIME before I’m at max completion, but I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be nice to disconnect from the laptop and gaming consoles and just snuggle in bed with the 3DS in hand.

I feel as if it’s too soon to tell if there’s any room for improvement. I’m sure there will be, and I have yet to even dabble in co-op mode, but I’m excited to give it a shot and let you know as PizzaRue progresses. If you’d like to form a battle team with me in game, just let me know and I’ll shoot you my 3DS friend code! :)
